The Process
Research
The process of putting together a spring collection spanned from October to May. As a stylist, in particular, this included heavy market and consumer research, trend analysis, and trend predictions during Fall 2024 for the upcoming Spring 2025 season.
Planning
The next step in styling for my target market and line theme included drawing up my envisioned looks and creating complete lookbooks with accessory, shoe, hair, and makeup details.
This also included budgeting. Though some of my estimates seem to be lowballed, I actually managed to stay completely within my overall budget, though that sometimes meant reallocating funds from one piece to another. Most of my sourcing was either from inventory or secondhand items from the Fremont Sunday Market, as vendors were always willing to negotiate on pricing. Additionally, I did some online scouring to get the best possible deals for items I couldn’t find naturally at the market.
The Runway
As one of the MODE leaders this year, in addition to choreographing and organizing my own collection and models, I helped orchestrate the stage set-up. As the PR Manager, I also curated a VIP list and VIP seating sections for industry professionals, faculty, staff, and donors.
